Merry Christmas to all

Merry Christmas to all of our members and visitors. This very special photo was received at the offices of LS the other day and I thought it most newsworthy. It is a 1947 streamline Labatt’s truck, way ahead of its time. It did a tour of the UK in 1948 to promote Labatt’s beer, it is pictured here in Blackpool. The streamliners were the first Canadian tractor-trailers with an anti-jack-knifing device in the fifth wheel, and the first to use air brakes. Power came from a White “Mustang” 6.3-litre 53 horsepower six-cylinder PETROL engine driving through a five-speed transmission. Sorry that this is the same news as last Christmas only we have been having a little local difficulty in Braunton recently with rain and flooding of biblical proportions. The photo is courtesy of and copyrighted to Martin Davies.
