Tekno open day

Tekno are one of Europe's leading producers of 1:50 scale model trucks. Replicating all the major truck and trailer brands on the motorways of today, you'll know when you've seen a Tekno model by its high level of detail and quality which is a sight not to be missed - a bit like their open day that was held last Saturday at their head office near Rotterdam. You could hardly miss it due to the real Tekno truck that was being held around 65ft in the air by 2 cranes shadowing over the Tekno premises. Over 3500 people attended this year's event where they were able to see over 60 trucks on display, all of which have either been produced or soon to be produced as models by Tekno. Visitors had the opportunity to explore the Tekno museum on 2-floors which is well worth a visit at anytime (open every weekend!), and the museum contains at least 1 model from every truck Tekno has produced since truck model production commenced in 1974. Additionally, visitors had the opportunity to purchase all the Tekno models, including some from the older times, as well as any parts and spares which were needed. Another star attraction was the Tekno Event Lottery which was running. Basically, for every €75.00 you spent, you got a ticket which you had to complete and put in a drawbox. At 4pm, the draw was made and 1 lucky winner has now received a voucher where he can purchase 10 Tekno Models of his choice between now and the Tekno Event 2009.

Fellow Lorryspotting member, and Managing Director of Speedbird - Tekno's UK representative, Ben Lord said:

"It was a privilege as the UK representative for Tekno to join them and represent them at this year's event. We were thrilled to welcome over 20 visitors that travelled for the day from the UK where we laid on free transport to get British visitors to and from Amsterdam Schiphol airport. Many of them were ecstatic by the opportunity to not miss out and come to the Event. Many other Tekno fans came from as far afield as Denmark, Germany, Belgium and France so it was a truly Continental day out. The weather, at 32c, was absolutely super and made the day."

Next year's event is being held on Saturday 30th May 2009 and Tekno inform us that they will be making arrangements for British collectors to attend once again so keep your eyes posted on the websites from Speedbird UK and Tekno for further information.
